We are delighted to present for sale this front-running and race-wining Porsche 2.0L Cup car, which has seen multiple podiums in the series since 2018 and recently at Goodwood Revival in 2023.
Chassis #302806 was completed at the Porsche factory in November 1965 and fitted with engine type 901/01 number: 902975 and gearbox type 901 number: 224258. It was delivered new to the USA and supplied via Porsche Cars South West, San Antonio.
In the late 1990’s its was prepared and registered for SCCA and PCA racing for owner/entrant Robert Ames. In 2003-04 the car underwent a complete rebuild with fully welded cage and continued to be club-raced regularly by Ames until circa 2006.
The car was imported to the UK in 2013 where upon it was then once again fully restored from the bare shell and prepared to FIA Appendix K by U.K. Porsche 2.0L Cup specialists Historika, in preparation for the Peter Auto 2.0L Cup Series.
Complete with its original matching-numbers engine and gearbox cases, which have been put to one side and preserved, the car now comes equipped with two fully race-prepared engines and multiple sets of Fuchs wheels.
#301806 was initially run by Historika for Sandy Watson and Andrew Kirkaldy, proving immediately competitive, with an overall 2.0L Cup win in Spain 2019, a second place at Dijon and a third place at Monza in 2019.
For 2020, the car was then prepared by Jordan Racing Team (JRT) with the engine rebuilt and James Thorpe and Claudio Cappelli at the wheel, coming third overall in the 2.0L Cup round at Monza.
Post-covid, the car set fastest-time of the 2.0 Porsche 911s in the 2022 Spa Six Hours and finished sixth in class.
In 2.0L Cup qualifying at Mugello in 2023, the car was on pole, driven by Phil Quaife and James Thorpe. The super quick pairing once again finishing 6th in class in the Spa Six Hours and both qualified and finished 2nd overall in the 2023 Goodwood Revival -Fordwater Trophy 911 race.
This meticulously prepared and race ready car, conforms to the current 2.0 Litre Cup regulations. It comes not only with its matching-numbers engine and gearbox cases, but also two Maxted-Page built, certified and sealed, Porsche race engines with low hours:
Engine one: A high-compression 2.0 litre race engine, prepared for running on unleaded pump fuel, suitable for Spa Six Hours endurance races and / or road tours and rallies.
Engine two: A higher-compression (200 bhp / 164 ft lbs torque) 2.0 litre race engine for running on track with 102 octane race fuel.
