Current owner (UK)
In 2001, Petersen Motorsports / White Lightning Racing purchased a new (Model Year 2001) Porsche GT3 RS and this car was no longer used by the team beyond its last ALMS race at Texas Motor Speedway, driven by Bob Wollek and Johnny Mowlem.
Acquired and imported to the UK in 2018 by Maxted-Page Ltd. Subsequently, we have fully stripped and rebuilt the car in preparation for historic racing events. The engine and gearbox have been fully rebuilt to correct specification and conform fully to Peter Auto -Endurance Racing Legends series regulations. Suspension and wheels have all been overhauled and crack tested. New fuel cell fitted, plus new seat, harness and fire extinguisher system fitted. All invoices and certificates on file. Maxted-Page ran the car in the 2021 Le Mans 24hr ERL support race and through the 2022 ERL season, culminating in a class GT2b win at Paul Ricard in 2022.
In 2023 and 2024 we have continued to prepare and run the car which until now has been leading the Endurance Racing Legends GT2b Class, taking two class wins at its last event at Spa Classic in May 2024.
The engine currently has just over two hours running time, having been last rebuilt by us in April 2024, and fitted with brand new cylinder heads from Porsche Motorsport.
An immensely historic Porsche race car and perfect entry into historic racing of this era. The 996 GT3 R is probably not only the loudest sounding GT2 Porsche of them all, but also super competitive in its class and an absolute pleasure to drive for the amateur Gentleman driver and pro alike.
