On 6 March 1964, Stoop acquired 904-045, the very first example of a 904 GTS to be supplied in the U.K. registered YOU 4. Stoop raced 904-045 at Goodwood to 2nd place in the 1964 Goodwood Tourist Trophy - Grand Touring 2000cc.
Flight Lieutenant James Richard ‘Dickie’ Stoop was a Spitfire pilot during World War II, stationed at RAF Westhampnett, on the Goodwood Estate.
After the war Stoop became a works driver for Fraser Nash (AFN) and competed at Le Mans no fewer than ten times.
